Warwick School

WARWICK SCHOOL commissioned Jane in 2004 to make paintings with a musical theme for their large Recital room.

She needed to consider the proportions of the room as that would dictate to a large extent the size of the paintings. To achieve anything big enough they needed to be triptychs so they could fit into the studio she was using. The subject matter needed to relate to the kind of music the school was involved with: Orchestral, Choral and an enthusiastic wind band.

After measuring the room, positions of doors and windows and how the room is used, she decided on a 4.5 x 1.5m triptych ORCHESTRA and 3.5 x 1.5m triptych CHORUS on the wall with the door. On the opposite window wall there would be two smaller paintings on the subject of the wind band since when they practised they would be facing that way.

Jane went a number of times to observe and make studies of the pupils practising their instruments.
